Florida’s Governor is Happy a Zika Funding Bill Got Passed

    State-level officials in the U.S. south, especially Florida, are pleased Congress finally approved a bill to spend money on the threat of the Zika virus.

    FOX’s Eben Brown reports from Miami:

    The Congress’ last-minute bill passage also finally included a spending bill for Zika. 1.1 billion dollars for which states have been begging for months:

    (Scott) ”I’m frustrated that it took so long. I think it shows the incompetence of the federal government. But finally, they got something passed.”

    Florida governor Rick Scott. Where local-transmission of Zika is a problem so far:

    (Scott) ”But it’s very, very very important that we get a vaccine done. Every day that a vaccine is not done, there’s a risk of a child being born with microcephaly.”

    Pregnant women infected with Zika are likely have babies born with skull and brain defects.
