Housecall for Health: HIV Vaccine

The battle against a deadly disease may be long from over, but lab results out of Europe have yielded a significant breakthrough.  Now, the hope is that HIV, the precursor to AIDS, could be somehow minimized.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

Spanish scientists say they have developed a powerful new vaccine that could turn HIV into a minor infection, similar to herpes.

In a trial from the Spanish Scientific Research Council, 90% of the healthy individuals given the MVAB vaccine developed an immunity against the virus, and 85% maintained it for an entire year.  Researchers hope that bigger trials would lead to HIV being far less contagious.
