Major League Baseball is getting ready to test ways to speed up games.

FOX News Radio’s Dave Anthony reports:

When the Royals won that wild AL Wildcard game, beating the A’s, it was nearly midnight in Kansas City. The game on TBS lasted 4 hours 45 minutes… but it did go 12 innings. An average game ran 3 hours 8 minutes this season, according to Baseball Prospectus, a record.

So MLB is going to test new ways to speed things up in the Arizona Fall League this year. Experimental rules would include keeping hitters in the batter’s box between pitches, a 20-second clock for pitchers, no-pitch intentional walks, two minute breaks between innings, and limits on how long a pitching change takes.
