A counteroffer from House Republicans on dealing with the surge of unaccompanied minors illegally crossing the U.S. border.

FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern has more from the Capitol:

Before leaving town for the August recess, House Speaker John Boehner expects a vote this week on a scaled-down funding bill, spending just $659 million through the fiscal year.

(Boehner) “Which covers the expenses we believe that are necessary between now and the end of September.”

The measure would pay for additional enforcement resources along the border, add judges to more quickly process children, and change a 2008 law blamed for a backlog of cases from Central America.

It’s far smaller than a Senate plan that spends more than $3 billion to bolster enforcement and temporarily house immigrants.
